Datacom Systems Introduces the Industry's First Filtered Aggregation Tap

Building on the success of its SINGLEstream™ line of link aggregation taps, Datacom Systems has engineered the industry's first filtered aggregation tap.

The SINGLEstream™ Filtered Aggregation Tap provides network and security managers with the ability to perform packet-level filtering on their data before and after the data is aggregated.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Datacom Systems, Inc. announces the introduction of the new Filtered SINGLEstream™ Aggregation Tap that passively taps network segments and provides line-rate filtering and aggregation to monitoring tools.

May 9, 2006 - East Syracuse, NY - Datacom Systems Inc. the leading manufacturer of network TAPs (Test Access Ports), link aggregation solutions, matrix switches, and network access devices for security and network management applications announced the introduction of the new Filtered SINGLEstream™ Aggregation Tap, which passively taps network segments and provides line-rate filtering and aggregation to monitoring tools, network analyzers and IDS sensors.

This revolutionary concept gives users the ability to tap into 10/100/1000 Mbps network links. Copies of network traffic are then filtered and sent to one or more monitoring ports. Filtering can be based upon IP address(es), MAC address(es), VLAN(s), Port Number(s), specific bits within the header or can combine any set to give analysis tools specific visibility.

The out-of-band nature of the Filtered SINGLE
stream™ Aggregation Tap’s passive tap technology keeps network traffic flowing between routers and switches, while the packet capture devices on the taps’ monitor ports receive only the information they need for proper analysis.

"The ability to tap either fiber or copper links, then send that traffic to 10/100/1000Mbps monitoring tools is something our customers have requested so they have greater visibility, flexibility and efficiency with their tool sets. Our new filtering technology gives customers the ability to "Bridge the Gap" between 1000Mbps network links and 100Mbps analysis tools or load-balance traffic to sensors," said Sam Lanzafame, President of Datacom Systems.
