Described by the company as a more efficient way for network users to monitor multiple span ports, the new port aggregator can receive and aggregate up to four data input streams of varying speeds onto a single 10/100/1000 Tx aggregation monitor port.

Users can monitor up to four Gigabit (Gb) span ports simultaneously, according to VSS of Burlingame, California.

The 4x1 port aggregator allows multiple 100-based span ports to be aggregated onto a 1Gb monitoring channel, ensuring that legacy infrastructures can be easily integrated with the latest in monitoring tools, the company said last week.

Other product features include a series of front-panel LEDs (light emitting diodes) that give the user feedback on various device parameters.

More products with greater monitoring flexibility are under development, VSS said.
